The repository for social sciences and economics allows IAMO researchers to document and publish their quantitative primary and secondary data in accordance with the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) and share them with the wider scientific community. Researchers can upload their data, codes, metadata and other relevant documents into the repository, describe them in detail, and determine the conditions under which they can be accessed. When they are published, research data become citable because they are given a persistent “digital object identifier (DOI)”. The research data undergo a review process that guarantees their technical and legal quality. The cooperation agreement will provide IAMO with further support in achieving this quality and an additional channel for presenting its research data.
IAMO aims to continuously improve its institutional research data management. Research results from institute projects that are not subject to data protection or property right restrictions will be published in repositories, archived, and made available to other researchers. IAMO has so far made five data sets available to the scientific community on the SowiDataNet|datorium platform: https://data.gesis.org/sharing/#!Search/iamo.
SowiDataNet|datorium is run by the GESIS Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences. It is based among others on the SowiDataNet project carried out in cooperation with the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin), the WZB Berlin Social Science Center, and the German Central Library of Economics (ZBW).
