Science Lounge “Digitization in Agriculture”

Experts from the field of research, business and politics are invited to the Science Lounge entitled “Digitization in Agriculture” which will take place at Café 7gramm in Halle (Saale), Germany, on 6 March 2019 from 6 pm. The event is organized jointly by the science campuses EEGA (Eastern Europe - Global Area) and WCH (ScienceCampus Halle - Plant-based Bioeconomy) as well as IAMO.

Drones as tools for crop assessment, clever algorithms for detecting pest infestations, precise fertilization thanks to smart sensors - the digital age doesn’t stop at agriculture.

At the Science Lounge, Oleksandr Verzhykhovskyi (Innovations employee of the agricultural company IMC), Matija Zulj (founder of the Agrivi software), guest of honour Thomas Wünsch (State Secretary of the Ministry of Economics, Science and Digitization of Saxony-Anhalt) and IAMO expert Ivan Duric will discuss the opportunities and challenges of digitization in agriculture. The topic is taking a view on Germany, but also with a view to the processes in East Germany and Eastern Europe, especially with the background of global agricultural value chains. The participants of the Science Lounge will focus on their own experiences, problems and solutions.

The Science Lounge will be held in German and English in a relaxed coffee house atmosphere. Before and after the event, a drone can be observed, presented by Anja Richter from the ideas incubator Scidea. Please register via e-mail: leibniz-eega(at)ifl-leipzig.de.
