Expert Forum at Agritechnica 2019

The German-Ukrainian Agricultural Policy Dialogue (APD), together with DLG e.V. (Working Group on Eastern European Countries) and IAMO, is hosting an information event entitled “Reforms in the Agricultural Sector of Ukraine - Current Results and Perspectives” at Agritechnica in Hanover, Germany, on 12 November 2019. The expert forum is funded by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL).

As part of the implementation of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement, the Ukrainian government has launched an ambitious agenda for the sustainable development of the agricultural sector. After this year's elections, there are enormous opportunities but also certain risks. A comprehensive reform of the administrative structure was initiated at short notice. An important focus of agricultural policy is the land market as well as land use. It is expected that long-term, reliable framework conditions in these and other key areas of agricultural policy will promote investment and contribute to the intensification of international trade.

At the event, representatives of the Ukrainian government will inform about the current status of reforms in the agricultural and food sector and point out the resulting prospects for investment and growth on the one hand, but also for the development of rural areas on the other. In addition, a panel discussion with German and Ukrainian experts from agricultural economics, politics and science will discuss consequences of the reforms and perspectives for the further development of the Ukrainian agricultural and food sector. Special attention will be paid to the assessments of the Ukrainian and international agribusiness  on the reform progress.

The admission ticket to AGRITECHNICA entitles the holder to participate. For organisational reasons, please register here in advance. The event will be translated simultaneously (German/Ukrainian).
