Dr. Franziska Schaft joined IAMO in May 2007 as a senior researcher in the department Structural Development of Farms and Rural areas. She studied economic geography and regional planning at Bayreuth University, Germany, where she did her PhD in 2003 on the privatization and transformation of Czech industries. Afterwards she worked in different community development projects in Jordan and the Palestinian Territories for the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). Her research focuses on entrepreneurial strategies and organization of farms with a regional focus on Eastern Germany and Ukraine. Dr. Franziska Schaft is scientific coordinator of IAMO Graduate School.
