Fit for the Future – Innovative and Sustainable Eurasian Food Chains

On 23 June 2017, 9 – 11 am, high ranking representatives from politics, science and business will meet at the Leibniz Institute of Agricultural Development in Transition Economies (IAMO) to discuss about the topic "Fit for the future – Innovative and sustainable Eurasian food chains". The panel is open to the public and part of this year’s IAMO Forum. Admission is free and simultaneous translation into English, German, and Russian is available.

How important are globally open commodity, capital and labor markets for the sustainable development of the agricultural and food industry in Europe and Asia? What is the role of new organizational and technical solutions for successful global and regional food chains? What are the opportunities and risks of digital information and communication technologies or genetically modified crops for the efficiency of the agri-food industry, and thus for providing the population with healthy food? These and other questions will be discussed at the panel.

Dr. Shenggen Fan, Director General of the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), will hold the introductory keynote. Panelists are Dr. Hermann Onko Aeikens, State Secretary of the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Ivonne Julitta Bollow, Director International Affairs in the Corporate Communications & Public Policy division at METRO AG Wholesale & Food Specialist Company, IAMO researcher Dr. Linde Götz, Sayat Shortan, Director of the Kazakh Triesdorf Agro LLP, Sergey Sidorsky Minister of Industry and Agroindustrial Complex at the Eurasian Economic Commission (ECC), and Dr. Olga Trofimtseva, Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.

Admission is free. Registration is necessary.
