MULTAGRI

Rural development through governance of multifunctional agricultural land-use

Startseite MULTGARI

Thematic complex:
Organisation of agriculture
Project duration:
01.09.2013 - 31.12.2016
Investigated countries:
Germany, Sweden

MULTAGRI investigates how governance of agricultural landscapes can promote rural development. Thereby, biodiversity is considered an asset that can be used for the provision of public goods and the sustainable intensification of agricultural production.

In work package 4 titled "Land-use conflicts and impacts on agricultural development trajectories in different rural areas" IAMO analyzes how support and regulations for providing ecosystem services affect agricultural development and the economic performance of farms. In a first step, stakeholders from agriculture, as well as from environmental and public institutions are invited to workshops in Germany and Sweden to identify possible land use conflicts. At the same time AgriPoliS (Agricultural Policy Simulator), a model simulating agricultural structural change, will be extended to consider positive impacts of ecosystem services when analyzing different policy measures. The policy simulations will then be used to analyze how far policy measures should be adjusted to local conditions.

Publications

Within the MULTAGRI project the report "Modelling agri-environmental measures in AgriPoliS and data update" by Amanda Sahrbacher (IAMO), Jordan Hristov (CEC), Mark Brady (CEC), Christoph Sahrbacher (IAMO) and Josef Günther (IAMO) was published in August 2016. The report provides a documentation of both the update regarding production, investment and farm data for two European regions modelled in the MULTAGRI project (Götalands södra slättbygder in Sweden; Mittelsächsische Platte in Germany) as well as the extension of the model AgriPoliS to consider the newest features of the reformed Common Agricultural Policy’s (CAP). "Modelling agri-environmental measures in AgriPoliS and data update" is available for free download.

Published in June 2016 was "Deliverable 4.1: Stakeholders’ positions and identified policy measures" by Amanda Sahrbacher (IAMO), Christoph Sahrbacher (IAMO), Mark Brady (CEC) und Jordan Hristov (CEC).

In August 2016 "Deliverable no. 4.2: Modelling agri-environmental measures in AgriPoliS and data update" by Amanda Sahrbacher (IAMO), Jordan Hristov (CEC), Mark Brady (CEC) Christoph Sahrbacher (IAMO) Josef Günther (IAMO) was published.
