This dissertation project conducts empirical economic research in order to improve the understanding of EU agricultural factor markets for labor and capital. The productivity of such markets as well as the drivers of their productivity are at the heart of the analysis. To this end, an extensive European data set – the Farm Accountancy Data Network (FADN) – is analyzed by means of econometric analysis. Received methods as well as recently proposed techniques are applied to tackle empirical pitfalls in modelling the data. In addition, characteristics of the data itself impeding the analysis are also considered.
The dissertation project is part of the research project AG-ORGA&POLICY – Agricultural Organisation and Farm Policy.
