The main topics considered in the project are assessing the farm level impact of trade liberalization between Central Asian countries, developing policy priorities for investments under climate change, evaluating adaptation possibilities of climate-smart agricultural practices as well as enhancing the potential role of insurance as climate risk management tool in agriculture. IAMO is working on this project in Central Asia in cooperation with the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA).
The project analyses how farmers' adaptation to climate and income will be different under different climate and policy scenarios. Furthermore, identifying the climate-smart practices and assessing adaptation potential of climate-smart practices are investigated. The project also provides clear guidance on how to speed up the use of insurance products as strategy to reduce the vulnerability to climate variability and reduce risks associated with changing climate.
