REAP – Rural Education Action Program

Research focus:
Livelihoods in rural areas

Project duration:
since 2009

The Rural Education Action Program (REAP) is an impact evaluation organization that aims to inform sound education, health and nutrition policy in China. REAP’s goal is to help students from vulnerable communities in China enhance their human capital and overcome obstacles to education so that they can escape poverty and better contribute to China’s developing economy.

IAMO researchers are involved in two projects within REAP’s research focus "Health, Nutrition & Education". One project investigates the effects of elementary students’ vision enhancement through eyeglasses (Seeing is Learning). In a further project, approaches to mitigate iron deficiency anemia, which negatively affects school performance, are developed.
