Second episode of IAMO Alumni Talk published

In cooperation with the Alumni Association of IAMO the Early Career Scientists Programme has published a second episode of the Alumni Podcast.

The talk between Dr. Henriette Hanf, Dr. Klodjan Rama and IAMO PhD student Janine Läpple was produced during the IAMO Forum 2020. Henriette and Klodjan did their PhD at IAMO and now work for the GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit), Henriette in Germany, Klodjan from Albania. They talk about planned and not so planned career paths, reflect their time at IAMO and discuss challenges and opportunities of an academic education that should prepare the candidates also for a job market outside research. They also discuss which soft skills are important for careers outside the academic world, and what prospects foreign academics have when they return to their home country after successfully completing their PhDs.

Whether in the private sector, public service, international organizations or at a college or university - the opportunities for a career after a successful doctorate at IAMO are many and varied. The format of the IAMO Alumni Podcast aims to support PhD students in planning their own professional career, to promote networking with former PhD students and to provide a forum for exchange about possible career paths. The series has been developed as part of the Early Career Scientists Programme and in cooperation with the association "Alumni of the Leibniz Institute of Agricultural Development in Transition Economies (IAMO) Halle" e.V. .
