The expert panel was part of the agricultural technology trade fair "Agrotech-Agropars", which took place from 16 to 19 April in Shiraz in southern Iran. Jaghdani as keynote speaker presented some of his latest researches. In his lectures he talked about the Water-Energy-Food (WEF) Nexus, the valuation of irrigation water and the groundwater market. One result that Jaghdani came to is that a separate consideration of irrigation water rather than a comprehensive Water-Energy-Food Nexus approach can have devastating effects on water and soil resources. He also highlighted the importance of the correct economic value of water for efficient water resource development. He was critical of the expansion of the groundwater market, which is threatening groundwater resources when high subsidies for pumping energy are available.
"Agrotech-Agropars" is the largest agricultural technology fair in Iran and takes place annually in Shiraz, the capital of the province of Fars. The fair is accompanied by a top-class specialist programme organised by the DLG and the Iranian Ministry of Agriculture.
