IAMO and Uzbek state insurance company sign Memorandum of Understanding

On 28 October 2022, IAMO Director Thomas Glauben and the Chairman of the Board of Uzagrosugurta JSC, Shukhrat G. Rasulov, signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the two institutions. One of the important aims of this cooperation is an intensive joint transfer of research results in the field of index-based insurance. In particular, the participants of the meeting discussed the further dissemination of results obtained in IAMO's KlimALEZ project, which was funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The project developed innovative index-based insurance products and successfully piloted them in Central Asia and Mongolia. At the meeting, Shukhrat Rasulov emphasized the need for such novel products to improve the resilience of agricultural producers in Uzbekistan. In addition, he suggested training and capacity building of Uzagrosugurta employers with regard to the introduction of such index insurance products in Uzbekistan. The meeting was also attended by IAMO scientists Ihtiyor Bobojonov and Lena Kuhn, and Bobur Abirkulov from UzLife Insurance Company.
