Guest lecture on Central Asia in the Twenty-first Century
21 March 2018 - Professor Richard Pomfret, University of Adelaide, Australia, and The Johns Hopkins Bologna Center, Italy, gave a lecture at IAMO presenting his forthcoming monograph on “Central Asia in the Twenty-first Century” today.
The book takes stock of 25 years of post-independence economic reforms in Central Asia and argues that newly emerging transport corridors create future options for economic development in the region. For three years 2018-20 Richard Pomfret is holding an EU-funded Jean Monnet Chair on the Economics of European Integration. He also is a member of the reflection board of IAMO’s project “Institutional change in land and labour relations of Central Asia’s irrigated agriculture” (AGRICHANGE) funded by the Volkswagen Foundation. During his three-day stay at IAMO, he engaged with other members of the AGRICHANGE team on current research progress.
