Professor Stanislav M. Nikolaienko, Rector of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine (NUBiP) in Kiev and IAMO director Professor Thomas Glauben took part in the discussion. Professor Nikolaienko gave a short presentation of his university, outlining the current developments, key research areas and specific activities that are contributing to the development of the agricultural sector and rural areas in Ukraine. He placed particular emphasis on the university’s goal of achieving greater internationalisation by continuing to promote and implement international standards in education and research.
Professor Glauben spoke of IAMO’s research activities. In particular, he highlighted the institute’s work with Ukraine including the UaFoodTrade and LaScalA projects and the German-Ukrainian Agricultural Policy Dialogue (APD).
Professor Nikolaienko und Professor Glauben furthermore agreed to have their institutes work more closely together and signed a cooperation agreement between NUBiP and IAMO. The head of the NUBiP Center for International Activity, PhD Oleksandr Labenko, and IAMO researcher Dr. Oleksandr Perekhozhuk also took part in the discussion.
