Former employees talked about their career paths

At the IAMO Career Talk, former employees of the institute talked about their career paths after graduation. The event took place for the second time at IAMO in Halle (Saale), Germany, on 30 August 2018.

Irina S. Dolgopolova told about her scientific career at the Chair of Marketing and Consumer Research at the Technical University of Munich, Germany. In addition to research, the stronger inclusion of teaching poses a particular challenge. She has solved this problem by clearly dividing the days of the week between the two fields of work. Although teaching takes place in English, German language teaching is also offered at the university. As a non-native speaker, this offer is important for her, as German language skills are indispensable for a long-term stay in the German university system.

Doris Marquardt is Project Manager for Agriculture and Agricultural Ecosystems at the European Environmental Agency in Copenhagen, Denmark. Her work at the European Agricultural Agency is characterised by a determined career path. Her aim is to work in an international organisation and to play an active role in shaping policy. She has been intensively involved with the application processes of the EU and other international organisations and has tried to constantly improve her qualifications in the fields of science, consulting and policy advice. Following a successful application from the EU, she was placed on the candidate list for contract agents and held several professional positions at EURAC in Bolzano, Italy, at the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) and at the Permanent Representation of the Federal Republic of Germany to the EU in Brussels, Belgium.

After completing his dissertation at IAMO, Patrick Zier joined his father's farm. In recent years he has played a decisive role in the development of the company as a manager and managing director, such as the expansion of the business to organic farming through the founding of Agribio GmbH. He can apply his knowledge and skills from his time as a scientist at the institute in particular to the strategy and investment planning of his company and to the direct marketing of the "Milk" sector.

The event was organised in cooperation with IAMO's Sustainability Working Group and the IAMO-Alumni Association e. V. The association supports the exchange of information and cooperation between former and current employees and friends of IAMO. The association also promotes the dialogue between science, business and politics as well as maintains a network between members and outsiders who support IAMO.
