The Insurance Lab is established as cooperation between GROSS Insurance company and TSEU. IAMO is providing scientific and technical support. The Insurance Lab will function as an innovation hub for creating science-based empirical recommendation for policy makers and business partners. Increasing severity of climate risks in the region, fast dynamics of reforms as well as high speed of digitalization in the sector make identifying suitable insurance products based on empirical surveys difficult. The Insurance Lab may deliver scientific recommendations based on experimental approaches with participation of farmers and insurance company representatives.
Representatives of several state organization, and insurance companies participated in the opening ceremony of the Insurance Lab on 29 May 2018 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The activities of the Insurance Lab are closely related to ongoing IAMO projects “Increasing climate resilience via agricultural insurance – Innovation transfer for sustainable rural development in Central Asia” (KlimALEZ) and “Digital early-warning technologies for climate crisis management and agricultural transition in Central Asia” (DETECCT).
Establishment of Insurance Laboratory in Uzbekistan
IAMO has supported the establishment of insurance laboratory (Insurance Lab) in Tashkent State Economic University (TSEU) in Uzbekistan.
