On 19 January 2024 at the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA), international panel guests from politics, economics and science discussed the topic of "Sovereign, resilient, sustainable. Personalia

Congratulations to our researchers Rammohan Kamath and Egzon Bajrami on successfully completing their doctorates. On 25 January 2024, Rammohan Kamath defended his thesis on "A complex adaptive system perspective of the green-restructuring of clusters". On 29 January 2024, Egzon Bajrami presented his doctoral thesis "Evaluating the Agricultural Policy in Kosovo: lessons learned and the pathway forward". +++ We also would like to congratulate IAMO researcher Savarbek Eltazarov, whose article "Improving risk reduction potential of weather index insurance by spatially downscaling gridded climate data - a machine learning approach" was recently named Big Earth Data Best Paper. The award recognizes the best papers published in Big Earth Data in the respective year of publication. +++ IAMO Director Alfons Balmann was elected as a new member of the DLG Supervisory Board on 20 February 2024. +++ Deputy Head of the Agricultural Markets Department Michael Kopsidis is now a member of the Leibniz Association's Diversity Working Group. The working group is currently drafting a mission statement on diversity for the Leibniz Association. +++ We welcome new staff members at IAMO: doctoral researcher Ketevan Melkadze and visiting scientist Jiajia Li in the Department of Agricultural Markets and doctoral researcher Setenay Kizilkaya in the Department of Agricultural Policy. A warm welcome to the team and a successful time at IAMO! +++
