A total of 18 course participants from Western Balkan countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia) came together in Tirana for five days to learn how to use R for data visualization and spatial data analysis, with a particular emphasis on analyzing climatic data for the study of climate change and extreme weather events in the Western Balkans. The course provided ample opportunities to apply the gained knowledge in practical exercises, featured interactive sessions, and gave insights into the future effects of climate change in the region.
The project GEO-WB6 is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) and aims to improve the capacities and scientific exchange of university and government employees from the six Western Balkan countries in the field of geospatial data analysis. Until the end of 2025, IAMO and the Agricultural University of Tirana will organize three more training courses. For further information about the project, please visit www.geo-wb6.net.
