A new study at IAMO examines the impact of agricultural support programmes in the Republic of Moldova. Farming continues to play an important role in the former Soviet republic, especially fruit and wine growing. Within its national agricultural policy, the government provides investment funds to support the agricultural producers. Whether this funding achieves its goals and is suitable as a policy measure will be analysed in the pilot study by using a survey and modern methods of evaluation. A new researcher at IAMO in this context is Lucia Batereanu. She will write her dissertation within the project entitled "Agricultural Policies and Farm Competitiveness in Moldova - an Impact Assessment".
