IAMO receives delegation from Chinese Academy of Agricultural Science (CAAS)

During 2 to 3 December, a high-ranking delegation of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) led by Vice President of CAAS Prof. Dr. Xurong Mei, visited IAMO. The main purpose of the visit was to agree on details of future cooperation between both institutes and discuss common research interests, among others in the area of rural development and digitalization of agriculture. In a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between IAMO and the Institute of Agricultural Economics and Development (IAED), CAAS, both sides agreed to increase cooperation in research, capacity building and the organization of joint academic events. The MoU was signed by IAMO Director Thomas Glauben and Director General of IAED Longjiang Yuan.
The discussions between the CAAS and IAMO delegation were followed by a visit to local LEADER projects in the surrounding of Halle (Saale) to introduce the European policies and approaches in supporting the rural development. To better understand the close connection between agriculture and rural development, the delegation further exchanged with the CEO of a local production cooperative.

The visit of the Chinese delegation was organized by China Research Group of IAMO and facilitated by the Sino-German Agricultural Center (DCZ).
