The five-day autumn school aimed to enhance research capabilities in agricultural economics among PhD students, researchers, and analysts. An intense program designed to enhance skills in the quantitative analysis of adoption decisions, provided the participants with hands-on training, exploring econometric methods and combining theoretical lectures with practical exercises and group work. IAMO-researchers Nodir Djanibekov and Abdusame Tadjiev served as instructors, guiding participants through the application of these methods to real farm-level data.
The event is a component of the UzFarmBarometer project, a collaborative initiative between IAMO and CPRO/WIUT. This project, funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, seeks to understand the motivations and constraints faced by farmers in Uzbekistan and develop strategies to facilitate voluntary adoption of sustainable agricultural practices.
This successful event strengthens IAMO’s commitment to supporting cutting-edge research and capacity building in agricultural economics in transition economies, with a special focus on sustainability in Central Asia.
Following the autumn school, project partners from CPRO/WIUT and IAMO convened for a project coordination workshop on 17 October. The workshop focused on reviewing the progress of research activities, including the implementation of farm surveys and behavioral experiments in Samarkand province, and planning the next steps for the second year of the project.
