Over 50 participants, including representatives from leading scientific organizations and foundations in Germany and Armenia, attended the event. The Armenian-German Day of Science was organized by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the Higher Education and Science Committee of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia.
The main goal of the meeting was to promote research and innovation cooperation between Armenia and Germany. The IAMO representatives introduced the organizational structure of the Leibniz Association and IAMO’s research profile, highlighting the key areas of the existing research cooperation between IAMO and the Armenian research and educational organizations and outlining the areas of mutual interest, such as, for instance, the digitalization of agriculture.
As part of the Armenian-German Day of Science, the delegation also visited the Voskehat experimental farm of the Armenian National Agrarian University (ANAU), established within the framework of the Frutenia project, with financial support from the Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC).
During the event, IAMO representatives were welcomed by Professor Vardan Urutyan and Arthur Grigorian Foundation of the International Centre for Agribusiness Research and Education (ICARE-Armenia), and Professor Hrachya Zaqoyan, acting rector of the Armenian National Agrarian University (ANAU). To enhance cooperation, IAMO will be hosting these personalities at the international workshop on agricultural value chains in the South Caucasus region, which will be held in Tbilisi, Georgia, from 3 to 5 October 2024.
