IAMO scientists from the Europe-LAND project, including Clemens Jänicke and Daniel Müller, together with their partners, have collected all available data from the integrated administration and control system, which provides information on the fields and farms of all applicants for agricultural subsidies in the EU. The now published database contains field use data for 18 EU countries with a temporal coverage of up to 18 years.
Building on the work of the EuroCrops project, data on land use, i.e. crop types, has been harmonized. In addition to crop types, the database also contains farm identifiers for six countries (Denmark, Estonia, Ireland, Portugal, Spain, Czech Republic) as well as management information on organic and conventional farming in Belgium-Flanders, Denmark, Ireland and Austria. Beyond this, the data structure, format and projections have been harmonized to make processing and analysing all files easier.
As data continues to be collected to close spatial and temporal gaps, the database will be updated annually in the future.
