The conference held in Baku, Azerbaijan, featured three plenary sessions and nine parallel sessions in which more than 60 participants from 12 nations discussed latest developments in trade and foreign direct investment in Central Asian and Caucasus countries and their contribution to sustainable regional integration.
Throughout the two-day event, regional and international researchers were provided with a platform for scientific exchange and thereby strengthened future research activities in the region. The conference belongs to a series of events, which IAMO is organizing in Caucasus and Central Asia in order to boost cooperation among researchers in the regions.
Together with experts from business and politics, options of attracting investment into agricultural sectors and increasing and opportunities for increasing agricultural exports from Caucasus and Central Asian countries were discussed. Particularly issues of regional cooperation in terms of joint infrastructure projects and integration of these countries to the world markets were focus topics during the conference.
BAKU Conference successfully concluded
Researchers discuss sustainable regional integration of Central Asia and Caucasus via trade and foreign direct investments (FDI). From 6 -7 September 2018, IAMO organized an international conference on "Agriculture Trade and Foreign Investments for Sustainable Regional Integration in Caucasus and Central Asia" in cooperation with the Institute of Scientific Research on Economic Reforms (ISRER). The event was funded by German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
