Call for Submissions: IAMO Forum 2023 +++ New project on water governance and peacebuilding in Afghanistan started +++ IAMO supports the application of the city of Halle to become a Future Center +++ and much more now published in the latest IAMO newsletter.

In the face of present global food security challenges, the Global Food Security Association was formally established on 2nd December, 2022. An international conference after the launching ceremony as well as the 1st Global Food Security Forum for Young Scientists followed.

On November 28, 2022, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and IAMO held the workshop "Regional agricultural market information systems and policy monitoring."

The scientists of the Leibniz Research Network Biodiversity and cooperation partners present concrete recommendations for action to preserve the biological diversity on earth.

On December 01, 2022, the project "Water Governance and Peacebuilding in Afghanistan" (AWAGO) was launched. The aim is to provide an explanation of the prevailing patterns of cooperation and conflict in water management and to identify potentials that can develop in different political regimes.

On November 19, 2022, the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia H.E. Mr. Viktor Yengibaryan accompanied by the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Armenia in the Free State of Saxony Prof. Dr. Lucas F. Flöther visited IAMO. The guests were welcomed by IAMO Director Prof. Thomas Glauben.

From 19th to 20th October 2022, members of the Southeast Europe Research Group participated in the 22nd Agricultural Policy Forum in Tirana, Albania. This year’s main conference topic was "Agriculture and rural development in the framework of the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans".

Call for Contributions to the Panel "Remittances and Inequality: A Blank Spot on the ‘Research Map’". The Panel is part of the 20th IMISCOE Annual Conference which will be held on 03-06.07.2023 in Warsaw. Please send your abstract until 20.11.2022 to the chairs Janine Pinkow-Läpple and Russell King.
