Beyond Borders Conference: Registration until 4 October 2024
From 15 to 16 October 2024, the conference “Beyond Borders: Central Asia in the Face of Climate Change, Water Scarcity, and Migration Challenges” will take place at the Westminster International University in Tashkent (WIUT), Uzbekistan. Registration is open until 4 October 2024.
IAMO researchers receive honorary titles from Ukrainian university
In September 2024, the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine (NUBiP) awarded IAMO director Alfons Balmann the title of honorary doctor, whilst IAMO researcher Oleksandr Perekhozhuk received the distinction of honorary professor.
IAMO welcomes delegation from the Chinese Research Centre for Rural Economics
On 9 and 10 September 2024, a delegation from the Research Center for Rural Economics (RCRE) exchanged views with IAMO researchers on the challenges of rural development in Germany and China.

IAMO researcher at the International Forum of Landlocked Developing Countries in Tashkent
From 5 to 6 September 2024, researcher Ihtiyor Bobojonov took part in the International Forum of Landlocked Developing Countries on “Food Security and the Sustainable Development Goals”. He emphasised the importance of pilot activities to assess the effectiveness of agricultural policies.
Serbian students visit IAMO XR Lab
Young Researcher from the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Belgrade, Serbia, undertook a research trip to IAMO in the period from 1 July to 31 August 2024. The participants were shown how immersive digital technologies can be used to study consumer behaviour.
IAMO celebrates 30th anniversary
On 4 September 2024, staff and alumni of the institute came together to celebrate “30 Years of IAMO” in Halle (Saale), Germany.

In the frame of the BMEL-funded project “Establishment of a Geoinformation Center for the Western Balkans at the Agricultural University of Tirana” (GEO-WB6), IAMO and the Agricultural University of Tirana are organizing a summer school in Vora, Albania, from 15 to 21 September 2024.
