Together with Land Parcel Identification Systems (LPIS), IACS are an important basis for the disbursement of subsidy payments to farmers in the European Union. The development of such systems is therefore an important pillar for the countries of the Western Balkans in their accession process to the European Union. In the summer school, leading international experts will offer workshops on IACS and LPIS and discuss the challenges and technical requirements of such systems together with the participants. During fieldwork exercises, participants will collect data themselves and then process and visualize it using GIS software and database systems.
The summer school is primarily aimed at doctoral researchers, lecturers, researchers and public administration staff with a background in agriculture or related disciplines who work in the Western Balkans and are interested in GIS and spatial data analysis.
Participation in the summer school is free of charge. Meals and accommodation will be provided. Participants traveling to Albania from one of the other Western Balkan countries will be granted a scholarship of 100 euros to cover a part of their travel costs.
Interested individuals are invited to apply by 2 September 2024 with a CV and letter of motivation at info(at)geo-wb6.net.
