IAMO will once again be taking part in the Long Night of the Sciences Halle in 2024. The institute invites you to an interesting program with scientific lectures, project presentations and culinary delights on 5 July 2024.

How computer simulations and AI can contribute to a better agricultural policy.

Researcher Franziska Appel uses simulation models to investigate how policy measures affect the agricultural sector and what (undesirable) side effects there might be. (only in German)

6:30 - 7:00 pm

Research stays in Peking and Uppsala: A cooperation for more climate protection

Climate is global. Findings from one country can motivate ideas for innovative research elsewhere. Laura Moritz explains how research stays in Peking and Uppsala led to an exciting behavioral experiment for more climate protection in China. (only in German).

Winemaking in the Republic of Moldova: Ethnographic perspectives on work, value and crisis in the sector

In the post-Soviet years and with the country's entry into global wine markets, wine production changed decisively. Daniela Ana reports on the work of winegrowers and rural living conditions from an ethnographic perspective (only in German)

International wheat export markets: Market power, competition and food security

Global crises, along with political and economic challenges, influence competition in the international grain trade. Oleksandr Perekhozhuk explains the impact this has on global food security. (only in German)

Ukraine on the road to the EU: Farmers' protests, grain imports and other challenges

Farmers protest against Ukrainian grain imports and blame them for falling prices. The costs of a future EU agricultural policy after Ukraine's accession are also causing discussion. Thomas Herzfeld assesses this. (only in German)
