Course on „Managing your GIS project“

In the frame of the BMEL-funded project “Establishing a Geoinformation Center for the Western Balkans” (GEO-WB6), IAMO and the Agricultural University of Tirana are offering a training course on “Managing your GIS project” from November 11 to 15, 2024.

The course is aimed at students, doctoral students, lecturers, researchers and public administration staff with a background in agriculture or related disciplines working in the Western Balkans and interested in GIS and spatial data analysis. No special prior knowledge is required.

This course will consist of many group works and interactive hands-on exercises that will guide the participants through all steps required for setting up a successful GIS project. It will put emphasis on (i) how to collect spatial data and what are the differences between different file formats and data sources, (ii) data management and geo-databases, (iii) how to plan and carry out customized spatial data analysis, and (iv) how to publish GIS projects online.

Participation in the course is free of charge. The course will take place on the campus of the Agricultural University of Tirana in Koder-Kamez, Albania. Participants traveling to Albania from one of the other Western Balkan countries (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia) will be granted a scholarship of 250 Euros to cover a part of their travel and accommodation costs.

Interested individuals are invited to apply by 25 October 2024 with a CV and letter of motivation at info(at)geo-wb6.net.

Please find the official course announcement here.

The project GEO-WB6 is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) and aims to improve the continuing education and scientific exchange of university and government employees from the six Western Balkan countries in the field of geospatial data analysis.
