Beyond Borders Conference: Central Asia in the Face of Climate Change, Water Scarcity, and Migration Challenges

From 15 to 16 October 2024, the conference “Beyond Borders: Central Asia in the Face of Climate Change, Water Scarcity, and Migration Challenges” will take place at the Westminster International University in Tashkent (WIUT), Uzbekistan. Registration is open until 4 October 2024.

The Beyond Borders conference will bring together researchers, policymakers, and international organizations to address the pressing issues of climate change, water scarcity, and migration in Central Asia. Through interdisciplinary discussions, the conference aims to foster cooperation and identify sustainable solutions to the region's growing challenges.

  • Prof. Dr. Tilman Brück (Leibniz Institute of Vegetable and Ornamental Crops and Humboldt University of Berlin, Germany) – Challenging Change: Micro-level Evidence on Lives and Livelihoods in Crises
  • Dr. Asel Murzakulova (University of Central Asia, Kyrgyzstan) – Beyond Economical Determinism: Migration, Climate Change, and Adaptation Challenges in Central Asia
