Moshfeq Timory joined IAMO's Agricultural Policy Department as a doctoral researcher in November 2021. His research interests are in the area of water resources management. His PhD thesis will focus on water governance in Afghanistan and compare the systems there with those of Central Asian countries. Prior to his PhD, he worked as an irrigation engineer at the National Water affairs regulation authority of Afghanistan, General Directorate of the Harirud-Murghab River Basin. He also participated in various international programs such as Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM), GIS, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and climate change and water accounting in different countries such as Japan, China, Thailand, Iran, Kazakhstan, and the United Arab Emirates. He gained his master's degree from the German-Kazakh University (DKU) in Almaty, Kazakhstan, in July 2021, and graduated with a double bachelor's degree: a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from Dawat University of Kabul (Afghanistan) and a Bachelor of Geological Engineering from Kabul Polytechnic University (Afghanistan).
