Prof. Dr. Michael Kopsidis is Deputy Head of the Department Agricultural Markets at IAMO and joined the institute as a senior researcher in October 1995. He studied economics at the University of Münster (WWU), Germany. From 1989 to 1994 he was employed as a research assistant at the Institute for Economic and Social History at WWU under Prof. Dr. Richard H. Tilly. Kopsidis’ PhD thesis was titled "Market Integration and Development of Westphalian Agriculture 1780-1880". In 2008 he Habilitated at the Department of Law and Economics of the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU), Germany, receiving the venia legendi for Economic and Social History. Since 2014 he has been an Adjunct Professor (außerplanmäßiger Professor) at MLU. Kopsidis is also a member of the Committee for Economic History of the German Economic Association (Verein für Socialpolitik).
