Michel Kabirigi joined IAMO in May 2018 as PhD student in the framework of the project Citizen Science and ICT for advancing the prevention and control of Banana Xanthomonas Wilt in East and Central Africa (ICT4BXW). His PhD research will combine GIS and SNA methods for an effective BXW prevention in Rwanda. Before joining IAMO Michel Kabirigi was a research technician at Rwanda Agricultural and animal resources development Board (RAB), where he was in charge of research activities in the soil and water conservation program. He previously completed his degree in Agricultural Engineering at the Higher Institute of Agriculture and Livestock (ISAE) in Busogo/Rwanda, his BSc in agriculture (Hons) at Umutara Polytechnic and his MSc in Integrated Soil Fertility Management at Kenyatta University, Nairobi, Kenya.
