Max Hofmann holds a Master’s Degree in Biology from the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. Since 2018, he works as a research associate in the Department of Structural Change in the Land Systems Group. His research focuses on the effects of climate change on agricultural production in the countries of the former Soviet Union. Max Hofmann employs a range of different methods of spatial data analysis in his research, and has conducted various capacity building projects for GIS (geographic information systems) in IAMO’s target countries. In the project „Risk-Contingent Credit for Resilience“, he is involved in the development of an agricultural index insurance product for countries in Eastern Africa. He coordinates the project GEO-WB6, in which IAMO establishes a Geoinformation Centre for the Western Balkans at the Agricultural University of Tirana.
