Prof. Dr. Lan Fang joined IAMO as Visiting Research Fellow in September 2021. She is a full professor at Shaanxi Normal University (SNNU), China, and the director of the Center for Yellow River Studies and vice dean of Northwest Institute of Historical Environment & Socio-Economic Development at SNNU. Since 2018, she has been elected as a Deputy to the 13th National People’s Congress of PRC. She received her Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics at Justus-Liebig Universität Giessen, Germany, in 2003. Fang worked as a Fulbright Scholar at the University of California, Riverside, USA, from 2009 to 2010 and a China-Canada Exchange Scholar at the University of Toronto, Canada, from 2017 to 2018. She has published over fifty journal articles and policy briefs in academic journals and public media, and leads or participates in a number of national or international cooperating projects. In particular, she has been consistently serving as a senior expert or consultant for the national and local government, providing plenty of policy proposals and suggestions which have been approved and widely implemented by the state or local institution.
