Prof. Dr. Gertrud Buchenrieder received her doctoral degree (1994) at the University of Hohenheim, Germany. This research was on food security and rural finance in Cameroon. After her post-doctoral work at the University of Hohenheim, in which she did a cross-country comparison of financial market transition in Central and Eastern Europe, she came to IAMO as a member of the directorate (2006-2010). She has held several positions as a professor, i.e. for “Policies and Institutions of the Agricultural Sector” (2006-09) at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, Germany. At this university she has held an adjunct professorship in "Agricultural and Development Policy" since 2010. From 2010-2012 she was acting professor for "Politics and Development Outside the OECD World" at the Universität der Bundeswehr Neubiberg, Germany. At the University of Central Europe (UCEU) in Slovakia she has been a professor for "International Political Economy" since 2013. In 2014 she became an acting professor for "Agricultural and Food Economics" at the Technical University Munich, Germany. Since she left the institute she is now an associated scholar at IAMO.
