IAMO researches on world’s food supply and supply chains
Based on the increasing importance of the transition countries in Europe and Asia for the global food system, this thematic complex focuses on the functioning of value chains and their role in international food security.
IAMO researches on innovations and knowledge
This thematic complex focuses on the pre-conditions for and socio-economic consequences of innovation processes in agricultural production, supply chains, and knowledge networks.

IAMO Forum 2025
Mechthild Anna Becker, German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP), has confirmed her participation as a panel guest at the IAMO Forum in Halle (Saale), Germany. The panel discussion entitled “What Makes Rural Areas Liveable?” will take place on 20 June 2025.
Honorary professorship and memorandum of understanding achieved at Mamun University in Uzbekistan
On 14 March 2025, IAMO scientist Ihtiyor Bobojonov was awarded the title of honorary professor in recognition of his contributions to the academic development of Mamun University. In addition, a memorandum of understanding was signed to strengthen cooperation.
Call for Submissions: Workshop “Enhancing Agricultural Value Chains through Digital and Immersive Technologies: Understanding Consumer Behavior”
The AGRIIMMERSE project workshop will take place in Belgrade, Serbia, from 16 to 18 September 2025. The application documents must be submitted electronically until 5 May 2025.

The IAMO Forum 2025 entitled “Rural Roots and Routes: Navigating Complexities of Quality of Life, Immobility, and Migration” will take place in Halle (Saale), Germany, from 18 to 20 June 2025. Early bird registration is possible until 4 May 2025.

The Leibniz Institute of Agricultural Development in Transition Economies (IAMO) analyses economic, social and political processes of change in the agricultural and food sector, and in rural areas. The geographic focus covers the enlarging EU, transition regions of Central, Eastern and South Eastern Europe, as well as Central and Eastern Asia.
