IAMO Alumni Talk

26 June 2020 - As part of the IAMO Forum 2020 a digital talk between IAMO alumni Henriette Hanf and Klodjan Rama and PhD student Janine Läpple will take place on the last day of the conference from 10:30 a.m.

Today's doctoral students have to deal with the question of which career paths they want to take after their doctorate at IAMO at an early stage. Whether in the private sector, public administration, international organizations in Germany or abroad, or an academic career at a university or a research institute - the possibilities are manifold. Networking with former PhD students and the exchange of information about possible career paths, job descriptions and the challenges they face are helpful tools for starting to shape one's own career early on.

The IAMO Alumni Association and the Young Scientists Program are organizing the IAMO Alumni Talk as part of this year's IAMO Forum 2020. Like the whole forum, the talk will take place in digital form. We will broadcast a talk between our PhD student Janine Läpple and the two IAMO alumni Henriette Hanf and Klodjan Rama on Friday, June 26 at 10.30 a.m.

Henriette and Klodjan did their PhD at IAMO and now work for GIZ, one from Germany, the other from Albania. The three talk about planned or less planned career paths, reflect on the doctoral period at IAMO and discuss challenges and opportunities of an academic education that should prepare the candidates for a job market outside the academic sector.
