Leibniz institutions invited to handicrafts campaign on Diversity Day

On the occasion of the 7th German Diversity Day on 28 May, IAMO, together with the other local institutions of the Leibniz Association, the Institute for Economic Research in Halle (IWH), the Leibniz Institute for Plant Biochemistry (IPB) and the WissenschaftsCampus Halle - Plants-based Bioeconomy (WCH), were on the marketplace in Halle (Saale) in order to take a strong stand against discrimination and to uphold the richness of a diverse society.

Interested pedestrians were invited to create a mosaic through tinkering colourful and multifaceted stones upon a wood plate between 12.00 and 14.00, with the Leibniz Association‘s logo in the middle, tinkered with blue stones. The two initiators, Equal Opportunities Officer Dr. Franziska Appel and Coordinator for Equality and Diversity Dr. Miao-ling Hasenkamp, wanted to underline the importance of open-mindedness, tolerance and respect enjoyed within the Leibniz Association: Only when the most diverse people with their very individual traits are well reconginized and treated on an equal footing can a diverse and flourishing society emerge, in which each person is able to unfold his/her own potential.

The Diversity Day takes place annually as a nationwide action day of the association "Charter of Diversity".
