Departments
IAMO's research concentrates on three areas: the politica, external environment of agriculture and its scope of design, the agricultural and food sector markets, and the structural development of enterprises in rural areas. The institute is thus divided into three academic departments:
- External environment for Agriculture and Policy Analysis (Agricultural policy)
- Agricultural Markets, Marketing and World Agricultural Trade (Agricultural markets)
- Structural Development of Farms and Rural Areas (Structural change)
Combining research between departments results in the main areas specified in IAMO's medium-term research agenda. Those areas of research represent the issues IAMO concentrates on and which require departmental cooperation. Each research area has a dedicated study group whose tasks are to capitalise on synergy effects and to coordinate research projects with each other. Research at IAMO includes individual works, projects requiring departmental cooperation, and the realization of third-party funded projects.
Responsibility for the support of the scientists in all administrative, technical and legal matters lies with the
- Department of "Administration, Central Services and Technical Support"
This includes the accounting, personnel and general administrative/acquisition departments, respectively, the academic library, IT/equipment and electrical engineering, as well as real estate/domestic personnel responsible for the upkeep of IAMO's guest apartments.
